The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted our lives for the last year. A lot of the simple things we enjoyed doing on a daily basis are no longer safe to do. This huge disruption has really taken a toll on everyone’s health. You may have trouble finding the motivation to get off the couch right now, but it is crucial to your physical and mental health to stay as active as possible. These are the four best ways to stay physically active right now.
Short Bursts During Breaks
It is important to get in your exercise whenever possible. One of the easiest ways to do this is by getting active during your short breaks at work. While you may not be able to walk around the office or walk to a café for lunch, you can still use your breaks wisely while working at home. Do a few pushups or jumping jacks during your break to bump up the heart rate.
Avoid Sitting Too Long
Sitting for prolonged periods of time is absolutely terrible for your health. Posture problems, body aches and several other health issues are directly correlated to too much sitting. Try to avoid staying in one position for more than 30 minutes. Take a short break from whatever you are doing to stand up, stretch your body and take a short walk around the room.
Walk More Often
The lack of gym access should not be an excuse to avoid exercise. You can get in a solid workout anywhere by just walking. You will be amazed at how a great a workout you get by just repeatedly walking up and down a flight of stairs. If you are tired of walking in the house, then you can opt for a safe walk around the block.
Play Some Games
Since we are spending so much time inside right now, it is important to get outside as much as possible. Utilize your backyard to your benefit. Play a few games in the yard with the kids when the weather is nice. Tag, hide and seek and soccer are just a few games you can play. You will have such a good time that you will not even realize how much exercise you got until finishing.
